San Antonio police seek help finding Brayam Bernal, wanted for serious offenses, possibly linked to a 2020 murder involving a stolen car.
Ana Carpio shared online that the man police are looking for reportedly stole the same car in which her son Sebastian’s body was found stuffed in the trunk.
Police are searching right now for Brayam Berna, 22, who has three active warrants out for him, including aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Carpio shared the police post claiming that Bernal allegedly held three victims at gunpoint, stealing their belongings and the car used in her son’s death.
Sebastian was found with a gunshot wound in a burnt car in Sept. of 2020 in a remote Bexar County pasture.
Edgar de la Cruz is serving a 25-year sentence for Carpio’s death and aggravated robbery.
Last year, Felipe Perez was sentenced to eight years after pleading guilty for trying to get rid of a shotgun and a phone connected to the case.
Ana was in the court pushing to get Perez the maximum 10 year sentence.
“This is a picture that shows Sebastian’s charred skeleton remains,” said Ana Carpio, Sebastian’s mother. “You weren’t the one who pulled the trigger on the gun that killed my son but your actions after the fact were as if you killed Sebastian a second time.”
Edgar de la Cruz took a plea deal with his sentence, giving investigators multiple names of people tied to the case.
Carpio told us she wants everyone held accountable for her son’s death.
Carpio shared online each conviction represents a step towards healing, closure, and a way to honor Sebastian’s memory.
We’ve reached out to police to confirm the connection to this case but have not heard back.
