SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio police officer was arrested after allegedly installing an illegal tracking device that stemmed from a March 2025 incident, according to a press release.
SAPD Officer Richard Boyle, a 24-year veteran with the department, turned himself into the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. This happened after an arrest warrant was issued for an off-duty incident that happened nearly eight months ago, according to SAPD.
The press release states Boyle has been charged with Unlawful Installation of Tracking Device – a Class A misdemeanor. Details surrounding the charges are unclear and were not immediately provided by authorities.
According to SAPD, Boyle was assigned to SAPD’s Off Duty Employment Detail and is currently on administrative duty.
Jail records show Boyle was released on bond.
