SAPD officer arrested for alleged off-duty family violence incident

Authorities said Officer Cody Haegelin turned himself in to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio police officer was arrested on a family violence charge related to an alleged off-duty incident, according to SAPD.

Investigators said Officer Cody Haegelin, a 14-year veteran of the department currently assigned to SAPD’s SWAT Detail, turned himself in to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with an incident that occurred on September 14.

Police said Haegelin was charged with assault involving choking or strangulation of a family member.

He has been placed on administrative duty pending an investigation, according to SAPD.
