SAPD officer arrested on family assault charge, placed on administrative duty

Officer Taylor Thompson was arrested by the Castroville Police on a charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member, SAPD says.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio police officer has been arrested on a family violence charge, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

SAPD officials said Officer Taylor Thompson was arrested by the Castroville Police Department on a charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

Thompson is a five-year veteran of the department and is currently assigned to the Patrol Division.

Following the arrest, SAPD placed Thompson on administrative duty while the case is reviewed.

The department also confirmed it has opened an internal administrative investigation into the incident.

SAPD said the criminal investigation is being handled by the Castroville Police Department and referred any questions regarding the case to that agency.
