
An off-duty San Antonio police officer was hospitalized after being struck by a car while riding a motorcycle early Wednesday morning.
SAN ANTONIO — An off-duty San Antonio Police Department officer is recovering after a serious crash early Wednesday morning on the city’s east side.
Police say the crash happened around 2:39 a.m. in the 4000 block of East Houston Street.
According to a sergeant at the scene, the officer, a man in his 30s, had just gotten off work and was leaving the East Side substation on a motorcycle when a silver sedan pulled out from Noblewood Drive and struck him.
The officer was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical but stable condition, officials said.
The driver of the sedan is being evaluated by DWI officers, though no charges have been filed at this time.
SAPD, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
