SAPD officer injured after their cruiser was sent crashing head-on into van

Police say the officer’s vehicle was hit by a suspect who fled from the scene following the crash.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio Police officer is recovering after their cruiser was sent crashing head on into a van on the southwest side of town late Monday night.

SAPD tells us the officer was hit by by a car at Old Pearsall Road and Hillburn Drive just before 10 p.m.

The impact caused his police cruiser to crash into the front of an on-coming van. Police say the two men in the car that hit the officer’s vehicle ran off, but were quickly caught.

Police say the driver had active warrants and was driving without a license.

The officer was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.
