SAPD officer injured in crash; suspected driver flees on foot

The driver of the suspect vehicle along with the passengers allegedly got out and fled the scene on foot. Two female passengers were located nearby.

SAN ANTONIO — An SAPD officer was involved in a crash early Saturday morning and the driver of the suspect vehicle has still not been located, police say.

Around 3 a.m. the officer was driving north on Blanco Road. As they approached the La Manda intersection, a Toyota Camry turned south onto Blanco Road from La Manda. This allegedly caused the officer to hit the driver side of the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota along with passengers of the vehicle allegedly got out and fled the scene on foot after the collision. Two female passengers were located nearby shortly after.

However, the suspected driver has not been located as of Saturday morning. It’s unclear what charges he faces once caught.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
