SAPD officer involved in crash on west side of town

Both drivers went to the hospital with minor injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — An SAPD officer was involved in a crash on the west side of town while responding to a call, police say.

San Antonio Police responded to the intersection of Culebra Road at Rim Rock Trail after an officer in police cruiser goit into an accident with a driver around 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

Officers say they are not sure which driver caused the accident, but the two vehicles collided. Both drivers had minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Both vehicles only had drivers and no passengers.

Police say they got conflicting stories from witnesses at the scene, but it appears the driver was southbound turning west and the officer was heading westbound on Culebra Road when they collided.

Officials say the police unit had their lights and siren on and the officer was responding to a call.

No charges are expected to be filed at this time.

The officer involved in the incident is a 12-year veteran of SAPD.

This is a developing story.
