SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department reported an “officer in trouble” on the city’s south side Tuesday afternoon, later saying the officer was shot.
A suspect in the shooting was at large for several hours before police said he was caught just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Another SAPD officer was shot and hospitalized a few hours ago by a repeat violent offender who should have been in jail. SWAT, Covert, TAG, South Patrol, SAFFE, Raven, Eagle, and MSOU just now took the suspect in custody. Again, this is a public safety issue

The officer was in stable condition at a San Antonio hospital, according to a department statement.
The incident happened at the intersection of Iroquois and Ute streets near I-35. It was reported at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
No further details were immediately available from police, but they planned a news conference with Chief William McManus to discuss the incident.
