SAN ANTONIO — A person was killed and several more injured in a crash on the west side of San Antonio early Sunday morning.
It happened around 12:24 a.m. on U.S. Highway 90 at Southwest 36th Street.
Police say that a speeding driver in a vehicle caused the crash, then drove off afterwards. All of the drivers involved were traveling east on Highway 90 on motorcycles when a 26-year-old driver in a car with a 25-year-old woman ran into the back of one of the motorcycles, causing that 27-year-old rider to spin out and hit another 22-year-old motorcyclist.
Another bike ridden by a 29-year-old woman was unable to stop in time, and crashed into the other motorcycles, throwing the victim from her bike. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth 33-year-old motorcyclist was also hit by the suspect in the car, causing him to fall from his bike and break his arm.
Highway 90 eastbound was shut down while crews worked to investigate the crash. Police located the two suspects and detained them for questioning before releasing them. They could face charges of failure to stop and render aid-death.
This is a developing story.
