SAPD: Parents run over by daughter’s boyfriend in stolen vehicle on west side

Two parents in their 50s were hospitalized early Monday after police say their daughter’s boyfriend ran them over while stealing a vehicle on the city’s west side.

SAN ANTONIO — A family confrontation turned violent early Monday morning on the city’s west side, leaving two parents hospitalized and a suspect on the run.

It happened around 12:11 a.m. in the 6700 block of Blue Oak Drive near Pinn Road.

According to a sergeant with the San Antonio Police Department, a man attempted to take his girlfriend’s vehicle. The woman’s parents, both in their 50s, ran outside to try and stop him.

Police say the suspect put the vehicle in reverse while both parents had the doors open, striking them with the doors as he backed up.

The mother was taken to University Hospital with possible life-threatening head injuries. The father was transported with a broken leg.

The suspect, identified as the daughter’s boyfriend, fled the scene, and officers are actively searching for him.

San Antonio Police, Fire, and EMS all responded.
