SAPD: Police pursuit ends in head-on collision; 19-year-old driver found to be intoxicated

The suspect is being charged with driving while intoxicated, unlawful carry of a weapon and a drug possession charge.

SAN ANTONIO — A driver is in the hospital with a head injury after fleeing police ended in a head-on crash on the north side, according to police.

Olmos Park police was trying to pull the male driver, 19, just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday for a flat tire. That’s when police say the driver fled, traveling southbound on McCullough Avenue, weaving in and out of lanes.

Later on, the suspect crashed head on with another vehicle around the intersection of San Pedro and Fresno. He was found to be unresponsive and was taken to the hospital in noncritical condition with a head injury.

The occupants of the vehicle hit, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, were also taken to the hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.

After investigation, it was determined the suspect was driving under the influence. A weapon was also found in his vehicle, according to police. He is being charged with driving while intoxicated, unlawful carry of a weapon and a drug possession charge.
