SAPD: Police pursuit of alleged shoplifters ends in crash

Police say the suspects crashed into a pole.

SAN ANTONIO — A pair of suspected shoe thieves weren’t on the run for long on Thursday morning.

The police pursuit came to an end off southeast Military Drive when two suspected shoplifters lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a pole.

Police say it all started just before 11 a.m. when they were called out to the WSS Shoe Store nearby.

Employees told officers two men stole merchandise from the store and then jumped in a truck and sped off.

Employees managed to take down the license plate.

When police found the truck, the pair noticed they were being followed so they sped onto Loop 410 near Southton in an attempt to escape, but crashed instead.

Both men are now facing charges for shoplifting.

Police tell us one of the suspects had an outstanding warrant for robbery.
