SAPD responds to ‘sudden death’ incident on west side; previously categorized by officials as dog bite

Law enforcement initially responded to the 6600 block of Winkle Court on Thursday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio authorities said a west-side incident initially categorized by fire department officials as a dog bite was now being investigated as an “apparent sudden death.”

Police say the call came in around 10:38 a.m. in the 6600 block of Winkle Court. Officials with the San Antonio Fire Department previously said one person was taken to a hospital after being bitten on the leg by a dog.

There was no immediate word on the victim’s condition, but police now say “the call is no longer an animal-related offense” and “does not appear to be criminal at this time.”
