SAN ANTONIO — An apparent road rage incident resulted in the death of a 58-year-old man found with gunshot wounds on the north side Monday evening, according to police officials.
San Antonio police responded around 5:30 p.m. to a home in the 11200 block of Belair Drive after receiving reports of a shooting in progress. Authorities say two men had “exchanged rounds toward each other” on the road nearby before things escalated further.
“At one point the resident did return back into his home, produced another firearm, came back outside,” said Lizzandra Trevino, a spokesperson for the police department. “The driver was still shooting off rounds.
The resident followed the driver, Trevino said, and continued to shoot, eventually hitting the victim. It’s unknown how many times he was shot, nor how the road rage incident initially began.
The resident was detained and is cooperating with investigators, police say. It’s unknown if he will face charges, but police are still investigating.
Neither man has been identified.
