SAPD: Robbery suspect dead after fleeing scene, crashing his car

Police were dispatched to the scene of a robbery and found a gunshot victim in critical condition.

SAN ANTONIO — A robbery suspect is dead after police say he crashed his car into a  home after getting into a shootout with the robbery victim.

It happened just before 9 p.m. in the 3300 block of Fredericksburg Road near Vance Jackson Road.

Police were dispatched for a shooting in progress and learned the 32-year-old victim had met up with the suspect, a man in his early 30s. According to police, the suspect pulled out a weapon and attempted to rob the victim, shooting him multiple times. The victim also pulled out a weapon and returned fire, striking the suspect.

Police say the suspect drove off in a white Ford Fusion but ended up crashing into someone’s vehicle, then crashing into a house at Babcock and Leming Drive.

EMS was called to both locations. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. 

The suspect was pronounced dead at the crash scene and has not yet been identified. 

No injuries were reported from anyone else during the crashes.
