San Antonio police have issued an arrest warrant for a man accused of attempting to sexually assault a woman inside her apartment last summer.
According to an affidavit from the San Antonio Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, investigators identified the suspect as Jesus Carlos Rivera, 43, who worked as a maintenance employee at the victim’s apartment complex.
Police said the incident happened on July 8, 2025, at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Fredericksburg Road.
The victim, a 31-year-old woman, told detectives Rivera had been seen around the complex for about two years because of his job. She said he initially came to her unit to work on a sink.
According to the affidavit, the woman noticed Rivera had been drinking beer outside with friends before returning to her apartment later that night. Police said Rivera allegedly knocked hard on the door, pushed his way inside when she opened it, and locked the door behind him.
Investigators said Rivera began kissing the woman, groping her, and attempting to unbutton her clothing while making comments toward her. The victim told police she froze and tried to push his hands away.
The affidavit states the woman did not scream because she did not want to wake her small children. Her 4-year-old daughter later came out of a bedroom crying, and the victim said she was then able to push Rivera out and lock the door.
Police said Rivera remained outside briefly before leaving. The victim later identified him in a photo lineup.
Detectives requested a warrant for Rivera’s arrest on a charge of attempted sexual assault, a felony offense. The affidavit notes investigators believe he may attempt to flee to Mexico. His bond is set at $50,000.
The case remains under investigation.
