A driver crashed into an 80-year-old woman’s east-side home, killing her, and then fled the scene, police say.
SAN ANTONIO — An 80-year-old woman was killed while sitting on her east-side front porch by a driver who crashed into her home, then took off, police say.
This happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Dafoste Street near I-10.
SAPD says the woman was sitting on her front porch, when the driver of a black Mercedes lost control of their vehicle, jumped the curb and drove straight into the front of her house. The woman was crushed by the impact, and taken to the hospital with broken legs. The driver took off following the crash.
Police have set up a search area near the home where the accident happened in the hopes of finding that man who took off from the scene.
The woman later died at the hospital from her injuries.
Investigators are still searching for the man, who they say was wearing a red shirt with black pants.
