SAN ANTONIO — Two people are in custody and another on the run after police say a stolen truck caused a crash on the city’s north side, according to San Antonio police.
Authorities responded to a major accident on Vance Jackson and De Zavala Road around 1:30 a.m.
Police said the incident happened when a gray 2021 Toyota was headed south on Vance Jackson at De Zavala Road. Investigators say a stolen yellow Dodge Ram traveling east on De Zavala ran a red light and struck the Toyota.
According to SAPD, the driver of the stolen truck and two passengers were seen running from the crash. Officers arrived and began searching the area. Two suspects were taken into custody after trying to evade officers, but the suspected driver was not found.
The Toyota’s passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the two suspects arrested were booked on charges of evading arrest and possession of a criminal instrument. Once found, the suspected driver will face charges of failure to stop and render aid, unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest.
SAPD said this is an ongoing investigation.
