SAN ANTONIO — A bicyclist was hit and killed on the northeast side of town Wednesday morning, police say.
It happened around 11 a.m. in the 12800 block of O’Connor Road near Weidner Road.
Police said the driver of the green SUV veered off of the road “for some unknown reason” and struck the bicyclist, who was riding on the grass.
A good Samaritan stopped and began life-saving measures on the victim until an EMS team arrived. The bicyclist, a man in his 30s or 40s, was taken to the hospital where we’re told he died from his injuries.
A witness who was driving behind the SUV caught the whole incident on their dashcam, officers said. Officers have not yet had time to view the footage.
Police say the driver was showing signs of intoxication and is being taken for evaluation and may be facing charges. He has since been identified as Michael Anthony Hilliard Jr. He has been charged with intoxicated manslaughter and his bond is set at $150,000.
