SAPD: Train fatally hits woman walking on the railroad tracks near downtown

The conductor told police they saw her about half a mile back and sounded their horn after spotting her. However, the woman didn’t move off the tracks.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman has died after being hit by a train near downtown Friday afternoon, SAPD says.

Police say a woman in her 30s was walking on the right side of the railroad tracks around Kemper and South Brazos Street around 2:30 p.m.

The conductor told police they saw her about half a mile back and sounded their horn after spotting her. However, the woman didn’t move off the tracks.

As the train approached her, police say she bent down to pick something up and that’s when the train hit her.

Officials have not identified the woman at this time.
