SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police arrested two people after they allegedly tried to carjack two people and burglarized multiple vehicles in a school parking lot Friday morning.
Police first responded to a call for an aggravated robbery around 6:30 a.m.
Police say two suspects attempted to carjack someone, then afterwards ended up at a different location around 8 a.m. and attempted to carjack another person.
According to authorities, the suspects then drove to J. B. Passmore Elementary School and burglarized about five vehicles in the school parking lot around 8:30 a.m.
Police say a teacher entered the parking lot and saw the suspects. Authorities were able to obtain surveillance footage confirming they were the same suspects from the previous robberies.
An undercover detective spotted the suspects’ vehicle at a shopping center on Military Drive and Highway 90 and called it in. Patrol officers responded to that call, which led to a brief pursuit before the suspects bailed out of the vehicle and ran into a residence on Woodgate Drive, authorities say.
Officers surrounded the home, and after 35 to 40 minutes, both suspects surrendered peacefully.
Officials say witnesses saw the suspects using a weapon during the robberies, but police have not found a weapon.
Police say one of the suspects is an adult and the other is a juvenile.
No injuries were reported.
Six schools were put on lockdown at the time of the incident, but those lockdowns since have been lifted, officials say.
Police say various charges are still pending. This is an ongoing investigation.
