SAPD: Vehicle swipes guard rail while exiting highway; driver dies at the scene

While taking the Culebra exit on Loop 410, the vehicle swiped the guard rail, causing it to continue back and forth hitting the walls of the exit, police say.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is now dead after a major accident while exiting a highway on the west side Thursday night, according to SAPD.

The 44-year-old man was driving his vehicle southbound on NW Loop 410 around 10:09 p.m. While taking the Culebra exit, police say the vehicle swiped the guard rail, causing it to continue back and forth hitting the right and left walls of the exit. The vehicle stopped facing the opposite direction on the exit ramp.

The driver sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

This is still under investigation.
