SAN ANTONIO — A 61-year-old woman was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in a suspected hit-and-run just northwest of downtown Friday evening, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Police said the woman was trying to walk across the 1800 block of West Hildebrand Avenue around 6:30 p.m. when she fell into the roadway. A witness reported that a light-colored Mitsubishi SUV then hit her.
According to SAPD, the driver got out of the SUV and tried to help the woman to her feet but left before officers arrived.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police said she was last listed in stable condition.
If the driver is found, they will be charged with collision involving injury, SAPD said. The investigation remains ongoing.
