SAPD: Woman injured in crash after suspected drunk driver loses control on west-side highway

Police noted that it was raining at the time of the crash.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was seriously injured after the vehicle she was riding in crashed on the west side early Saturday morning, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Officers were called to the 5900 block of U.S. 90 West just before 1 a.m. for a crash involving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz, police said. 

According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling westbound in the main lanes when the driver lost control and sideswiped the guardrails.

Police noted that it was raining at the time of the crash. The 19-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

According to SAPD, the driver was suspected of driving while intoxicated.

Police said the investigation remains active and information is subject to change.
