SAPD: Woman killed in rollover crash on northeast side of town

When first responders arrived at the scene of the crash, they say the woman was pinned inside her car.

SAN ANTONIO — A woman was killed after she crashed her vehicle and rolled over the barrier on the northeast side of town early Tuesday morning.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. when the woman’s car launched off the road as she was exiting Austin Highway near Loop 410, according to police.

Police say its going to take some time for the exit to Austin Highway to reopen, which may cause a traffic delay so be mindful if its your road on the way to work.

When first responders arrived, they say the woman was pinned in the car.

They tried to pull her out, but her injuries were too severe and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her identity has not yet been released, but officers believe she was in her 40s or 50s.

For anyone getting on the roads for Christmas please keep these notes in mind:

  • Move and slow down for vehicles on side of road
  • Go 20 below speed limit if you can’t switch lanes
  • Drive with caution in rainy and foggy conditions

This accident is an active investigation.
