SAPD: Wrong-way driver suspected of DWI kills mom in crash on northeast-side

The mother had her two kids in the car with her when the accident happened.

SAN ANTONIO — Two children were with their mother when a wrong-way driver in a truck crashed into their vehicle, killing the mom, police say.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 3800 block of Harry Wurzbach Road, not far from Eisenhauer Road.

Police say a woman in her 40s was with her two children when the wrong-way driver crashed into their vehicle. She was taken to University Hospital where she died from her injuries. The children, ages eight and 12, were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Officers say the driver of the pickup, a man in his late 40s or early 50s, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries as well.

The driver faces possible intoxication manslaughter charges, pending testing at the hospital.

Police are investigating.

This is a developing story.
