SAN ANTONIO — A young boy died Wednesday after being forgotten in the back seat of his parent’s car all day.
San Antonio Police were called to the scene in the 400 block of Carson Hill Drive in far west San Antonio at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.
SAPD Chief William McManus said the parent had a normal routine of dropping off the boy at Pinnacle Kids Academy before going to their nearby workplace for the day.
The parent forgot to drop off the child this morning, McManus said, instead driving straight to their workplace, and then left the child in the car.
When the parent left work late Wednesday afternoon, they drove the car to the school and learned that the boy had not been dropped off that morning. That’s when the boy’s body was found in the back seat, police said.
McManus said police were conducting an investigation to determine whether the death was “accidental or criminal.”
He said family members were “quite distraught, as you can imagine.”
“This serves as a tragic reminder: Check the back seat. Don’t leave children or pets in the vehicle here in South Texas,” McManus said.
