SAPD: Young child among those injured in NW Side crash; driver arrested for intoxication assault

San Antonio Police confirmed that one of the passengers injured was a 6-year-old child.

SAN ANTONIO — New details have been released following a major crash on the city’s northwest side that sent multiple people, including a young child, to the hospital on Wednesday.

San Antonio police say officers were called to the area of Culebra Road and Arcadia Creek around 3:54 p.m. Wednesday for a multi-vehicle crash involving a driver who was traveling at a high rate of speed.

According to police, the suspect’s vehicle struck another car that was traveling in the same direction. After that initial impact, the suspect lost control and crashed head-on into a second vehicle.

The suspect, identified by police as a 28-year-old woman, and the driver of the second vehicle were both taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. A 6-year-old child was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect was evaluated at the scene and showed signs of possible intoxication. She was later determined to be intoxicated and has been charged with intoxication assault, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing, and officials say additional information could be released as the case develops.

This is a developing story.
