SAPL celebrates 2024’s most popular books, milestones, new initiatives in San Antonio

The San Antonio Public Library broke down the most popular titles and videos that were checked out and watched at city libraries.

SAN ANTONIO — Several San Antonians hit the library in 2024 with over 9 million items borrowed from the San Antonio Public Library. 

Visitors browsed through all kinds of books spanning across different genres like fantasy, historical fiction, and romance while others utilized the diverse resources available like Kanopy, a free video streaming service for adults and kids.  

The SAPL also hit multiple milestones this year including five anniversaries like Brook Hollow Library’s 40th anniversary, Cody Library’s 40th anniversary, Great Northwest Library’s 30th anniversary, Henry Guerra Library’s 20th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of the learn at SAPL program.

SAPL also launched “The Corazon Collection,” no hold weekend, new library card designs and curbside pickup this year.

Top Adult Titles:

Top Kanopy Titles:

  1. “Father Brown”

  3. “The Whale”

Top Kanopy Kids Titles:
