‘Savage crime’ | Man indicted for capital murder of Stacy Dramiga; awaiting psych evaluation

Samuel Charon has been indicted for capital murder and tampering with a corpse after Stacy Dramiga was killed in September 2024 as she was on a trail.

SAN ANTONIO — The man accused of murdering Stacy Dramiga has been indicted on multiple charges by a Bexar County grand jury.

More than a year after she disappeared while walking on an east-side trail, Bexar County officials were able to identify Samuel Charon as the suspect now accused of sexually assaulting and murdering 63-year-old Dramiga.

“Definitely a savage, savage crime,” Salazar said after Charon was taken into custody. “One of the more heinous that I’ve been associated with.”

The breakthrough came on April 9, when Charon was booked into the Bexar County jail on a charge of criminal mischief and his DNA taken. It eventually was entered into CODIS, and authorities were notified that the DNA sample they had for months finally had a match.

On Jan. 6, a Bexar County grand jury indicted Charon for capital murder and tampering with evidence-human corpse.

Records show Charon is awaiting a psych evaluation, which is currently scheduled for Jan. 30.
