Savanah Soto, Matthew Guerra were shot in the head, officials say

Soto’s cause of death is similar to that of her boyfriend, Guerra, 22, who was identified by the medical examiner on Wednesday. Guerra’s manner of death is still pending, according to the medical examiner’s office, but Soto’s death has been ruled a homicide. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Tuesday when Soto and Guerra were found dead in a vehicle, that the case was possibly a homicide.

Soto was declared missing on December 23 when she didn’t show up to have labor induced. The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a CLEAR alert for Soto over the Christmas weekend, which was lifted Tuesday when San Antonio police found her body at the Colinas Apartments in a 2013 gray Kia Optima.

Soto’s family is holding a vigil for her and Baby Fabian Thursday at 4 p.m. at Kenwood Park. Soto’s gofundme has since raised $8,250 of the $20,000 goal.
