SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Water Systems board is holding an open meeting to discuss and vote on a $2.3 million contract for a feasibility study on relocating a downtown chilled water station to accommodate Project Marvel.
The meeting will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at SAWS headquarters located at 2800 Highway 281 near East Mulberry Avenue.
A group called Citizens Opposed to Project Marvel will be on hand to voice their concerns.
“Citizens believe that this expenditure of SAWS funds is premature as there is currently no deal to build a hotel at this site,” says Citizens Opposed to Project Marvel. “While many support the expansion of this system to serve additional customers, they also believe that relocation of the plant at 900 E Commerce Street is an unnecessary expense.”
The organization believes the money could be better spent by fixing leaking infrastructure to prevent water losses within the SAWS water supply system.
The meeting is open to the public.
