SAWS to cut off water to several apartment buildings for nonpayment

SAWS says they have tried working with the apartment owners, with no success.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Water Systems said Tuesday it plans to cut off water to several apartment complex buildings because the owners or management companies have not paid their water bills.

The utililty provided a list of multiple companies that owe thousands of dollars for their water bills. SAWS says they have tried working with the apartment owners, with no success. KENS 5 has received numerous calls from the residents of the complexes, with some saying they paid their utilities included in their rent.

The utility provided the following statement Tuesday:

“We are taking the unusual action of turning off several apartment complexes today for nonpayment. We have worked with the owners for months and months without success. Our crews are in the field today turning them off.”

SAWS gave the following list of apartment locations that are overdue and the past due amount owed to the utility.
