CENTER POINT, Texas — Scammers have been working to take advantage of your money to help flood victims and first responders in the recovery and repair process.
FEMA scams have already tried to steal your personal information and fire departments want you to be mindful on where you’re making your donations.
The Center Point Volunteer Fire Department says they’ve had scammers use their logo on Venmo to trick people into sending money to their accounts not helping first responders.
The verified Center Point Volunteer Fire Department’s Venmo is listed as a business Venmo account.
Just search cpvfdtx on the Venmo App.
The department says scammers have used usernames adding extra letters, dashes, underscores to their names to confuse anyone trying to donate.
The department says they’re working with Venmo to eliminate the bogus accounts.
