
Police say they are still searching for the suspect at this time.
SCHERTZ, Texas — The Schertz Police Department is searching for a suspect who crashed a motorcycle, causing an elementary school to be placed under secure protocol.
Around 12:15 p.m., officer responded to the Interstate 35 Northbound Access Road near Fairlawn Road after receiving reports of a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
Police said before they arrived, the suspect allegedly left the scene on foot.
Witnesses described him as a white male, approximately 5’10” to 6 foot tall, wearing a white shirt and carrying a backpack.
Authorities said the suspect appeared to be injured with a severe road rash on his left arm, but the extent of his injuries are unknown as he allegedly left the scene before police had a chance to question him.
Police said the motorcycle did not have a license plate, and the VIN did not match to any registered vehicles.
Schertz Science and Technology and Sipple Elementary School were placed under a secure protocol, meaning all perimeter doors were locked and no one was allowed inside or out as business continued as usual inside.
There was a large police presence, including the use of drones and K9s to try and find the suspect before the school was released from their secure status.
The suspect has not been found as police believe he has left the area.
