SAN ANTONIO — A Schertz Elementary teacher was taken into custody after a student was advised by her mother to come forward about an incident with a teacher, according to Schertz Police Department.
The incident took place on March 11 at Schertz Elementary after police officers received a report of a sex offense incident involving a minor.
Officers met with a the victim’s mother who convinced her daughter to speak about an incident with a fourth grade teacher who officials were able to identify as 42-year-old man, Gabriel Cantu, from San Antonio, according to police.
Detectives were able to secure an arrest warrant for a second degree felony charge of indecency with a child. Cantu was immediately placed on administrative leave.
Cantu was taken into custody without incident and transported to Guadalupe County Jail.
