They both face charges of terroristic threat, local authorities say.
SAN ANTONIO — Two teenagers enrolled at Clemens High School are in custody after allegedly planning a shooting at the Schertz campus, local authorities say.
One of the students allegedly offered to provide weapons to the other, who had expressed a desire to “shoot up the school,” according to the Schertz Police Department. The unidentified suspects were taken into custody Thursday afternoon when another student reported the threats to school administration.
“Video evidence was obtained to support the charges of terroristic threat,” Schertz PD shared in a Facebook post.
Interim Principal Miguel Gonzales elaborated further in an evening letter to families, saying that “a review of the students’ social media accounts uncovered video evidence involving firearms that raised significant concern.”
The ages of the suspects weren’t provided, but authorities said their charges amount to third-degree felonies. They were taken to Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center and Schertz authorities continue to investigate.
“We want to express our gratitude to the student who came forward to report the threats, and we acknowledge the school administration for their collaborative efforts during this investigation,” Schertz police officials said.
This is a developing story.
