One incident involved a stranger trying to lure a 13-year-old girl as she walked home on Monday, authorities in Schertz said.
SCHERTZ, Texas — Schertz police are asking everyone to keep a close eye on their kids after two separate reports of threats regarding child safety this week.
One incident involved a stranger trying to entice a teenage girl. In the second, authorities looked into a report of a possible threat targeting Clemens High School.
Parents, teachers, and staff are urged to be alert and listen to students. Less than a week ago, officials said a student at Clemens High School was arrested after threatening to shoot up the Schertz school. A second teenage boy also taken into custody allegedly said he could provide the first suspect with weapons.
After the school reviewed video evidence, the boys were taken to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center.
Then, on Monday, another student messaged a classmate on Instagram threatening violence at Clemens High School, according to officials. An investigation ensued when the student reported the threat, but “police determined there was no specific or credible threat to the campus,” officials with Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD said.
Nonetheless, the school said it was increasing security and is continuing to stay alert as a precaution.
Police also investigated a reported attempt to entice a minor on Westchester near Curtiss Avenue on Monday.
In that incident, Schertz police said a 13-year-old girl was walking home when a man in a black Honda Civic pulled up asking for her name and asking her to get in the car. The girl ignored him and went straight home and told her parents about it.
Police were unable to find the man and the car. If you know anything about the incident or live in the area and have footage of the possible suspect vehicle, call Schertz police at (210) 691-1200.
Officials are urging parents to talk with their kids and make sure they know what to do and how to respond if something like this happens to them.
