SCHERTZ, Texas — The Schertz Police Department is searching for a man who they say asked a 13-year-old girl to get into his vehicle as she walked home from school Monday.
The girl’s family reported the man as a suspicious person, Schertz PD says. Police subsequently responded to Westchester near Curtiss around 4:45 p.m.
According to authorities, the parents told officers a man with blonde hair and wearing a black tank top drove up to the victim in a black Honda Civic. They reported he asked for her name and to get in the car.
After a sweeping search of the area, authorities said they were unable to find the suspect or his vehicle.
“The officers did notice a few homes in the area that had cameras, but were unable to make contact with the residents,” Schertz PD said in a release. “If you live in the area and have security cameras, please review your footage.”
Anyone with footage of the incident or the suspect’s car in their area is asked to call police at (210) 619-1200.
“This is an example of ‘Stranger Danger’ and just one of many difficult conversations parents need to have with their children,” officials said. “The Schertz Police Department is extremely concerned about such an event and we will continue in our due diligence to solve this crime.”
