Score Big Savings During Texas’ Tax-Free Weekend Starting Friday

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Drivers can expect some heavier traffic around most retail areas this weekend thanks to Texas’ annual Tax-Free Weekend

Tax-Free Weekend is a state sales tax holiday that lets shoppers buy certain items, like school supplies and clothing, without paying sales tax.

The holiday starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday at midnight. And just in time for back-to-school shopping too.

Parents can take advantage of the break on sales tax for school supplies, backpacks and most clothing and footwear.

Not all items will be exempt from taxes. For a full list of eligible items that qualify this weekend, visit the Texas Comptroller website

The tax exemption applies to both in-store and online purchases, though shipping and handling charges may impact whether an item qualifies.
