San Antonio police are investigating after a man was allegedly stabbed multiple times by his wife Wednesday morning.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating a stabbing reported Wednesday morning near the city’s inner west side.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 8:30 a.m. to a local hospital after a 65-year-old man arrived at the emergency room with puncture and laceration-type injuries. Police said the man told medical staff he had been stabbed.
SAPD said officers spoke with the victim at the hospital and obtained an address in the 1600 block of West Laurel Street, where the man said the incident occurred. The victim told officers the stabbing happened inside a detached unit located at the rear of the property.
When officers arrived at the address, they were unable to locate the suspect but confirmed the scene described by the victim, according to police. Investigators began collecting evidence at the location in connection with a possible aggravated assault with a deadly weapon case.
Police said the suspect is believed to be the victim’s 56-year-old wife. Investigators indicated the two are in what they described as a common-law marriage, and the victim identified the suspect as his spouse.
Officials said the man’s injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.
Authorities are working to obtain a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as the investigation continues. A search for the suspect is underway, police said.
