R.C. Curtis is accused of killing his wife’s grandmother Paula Boyd, a beloved deli worker at H-E-B.
SAN ANTONIO — The man accused of killing his wife’s grandmother is headed back to the courtroom on Tuesday.
Its been almost 10 years since R.C. Curtis was accused of killing 75-year-old Paula Boyd. His first trial in 2021 was declared a mistrial because an old piece of evidence came back to light.
In a former interview, police said they were looking at at least two or more suspects that could have been involved in the murder of Paula Boyd.
After the mistrial, Curtis’ team tried to get the case dismissed but it was denied.
On October 21, 2015, 75-year-old Paula Boyd was found dead in her home on the Northwest side.
Police say she was beaten, strangled, and sexually assaulted.
Boyd was a deli worker at H-E-B.
Shortly after the murder, police arrested R.C. Curtis, 31, saying they tracked him when he tried to use Boyd’s credit card.
KENS 5 spoke with Curtis’ attorney on Friday to hear they planned to do jury selection Monday.
His court record shows that his team did request probation and Curtis’s attorney expects opening arguments to start Tuesday afternoon.
