For Selena fans, the recognition is another reminder that her voice and influence continue to live on, and as many would say, it’s “anything for Selenas.”
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — More than three decades after Selena Quintanilla released the album that made fans everywhere sing along to “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” her music is being recognized with one of the recording industry’s highest honors.
The Recording Academy announced Wednesday that Selena’s iconic album “Amor Prohibido” has been officially inducted into the 2026 GRAMMY Hall of Fame.
Released in 1994, the album features some of Selena’s most beloved hits, including the title track “Amor Prohibido,” “No Me Queda Más,” and “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” songs that helped cement her legacy as the “Queen of Tejano.”
The GRAMMY Hall of Fame honors recordings that are at least 25 years old and have lasting cultural and historical significance. Inductees are selected annually by a special committee of music professionals, with final approval from the Recording Academy’s National Board of Trustees.
