Glen Kohl left his pup tied up on a leash outside the store for a few minutes, but when he returned, his dog was gone.
SEATTLE — A beloved senior dog was returned to its owners Saturday evening after they reported him stolen outside a Seattle grocery store.
Glen Kohl said he walked across the street to Whole Foods on Westlake Avenue and tied up his dog Yofi outside the store while he ran inside to grab a few things. When he came outside, Yofi was gone.
“I was in shock and couldn’t believe it. I mean, we love our Yofi. He’s 14 and a half. Does not move that great,” Kohl said.
Kohl believes someone took his dog while they were inside the store. He said Yofi was tied up to a post and there was no way he could have gotten out as he is an older, patient dog.
Kohl asked people around him if they had seen what happened and no one came forward with information to help him.
“It took me a while, and then a wave of grief came, and I started blaming myself,” Kohl said.
Kohl blamed himself for leaving Yofi outside for a few minutes.
When the Kohls initially spoke to KING 5 on Thursday, they said they just wanted him back, no questions asked.
Yofi is safe and is now back with his owners, whom he has known for over 14 years.
