Homero Zamorano Jr. faces the possibility of life in prison for his role in the deadly smuggling operation that killed 53 migrants.
SAN ANTONIO — The sentencing for the man accused of driving the truck in the deadliest human smuggling tragedy in U.S. History, has been moved to a later date.
In 2022, 53 migrants died after they were found inside sweltering tractor-trailer on Quintana Road on San Antonio’s south side.
Homero Zamorano Jr. faces the possibility of life in prison for his role in the deadly smuggling operation. He is charged with one count of conspiracy to transport aliens resulting in death causing serious bodily injury.
His sentencing is now set for December 11.
Earlier this year, two men behind the operation were sentenced to life in prison. Four others involved in the tragedy are also awaiting their sentencing.
