SAN ANTONIO — A serial burglar who was targeting shopping center parking lots on the north side of town was arrested by police.

The suspect, Mikey Valdez, 18, had been targeting cars parked at The Rim and at La Cantera, according to police. In addition, police say he is a known burglar throughout the entire city of San Antonio. Valdez was arrested on three warrants on Wednesday including unlawful carry, unauthorized use of a vehicle and theft of a vehicle.
Police say they have been surveilling Valdez for some time leading up to this arrest.
SAPD was assisted in his apprehension by the U.S. Marshal’s Office. A search warrant was then obtained and officers found numerous stolen items inside, including stolen firearms.
“It’s a good case by our property crimes of Texas, they do good work and are unsung heroes,” said the San Antonio Police spokesman.
Police say more charges can be expected later Wednesday.
