
Here’s where Texas schools will play in this year’s tournament.
SAN ANTONIO — Seven Texas schools received bids for the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Here’s a rundown of who’s in the field:
The Houston Cougars landed the No. 2 seed in the South Region and will play Idaho on Thursday.
The Texas A&M Aggies got the No. 10 seed in the South Region and will face Saint Mary’s on Thursday.
If both teams advance, they would play each other in Okalahoma City on Saturday.
The Texas Longhorns will play a “First Four” game on Tuesday against North Carolina State in the West Region. The winner will advance to face No. 6 seed BYU on Thursday.
The SMU Mustangs also will play a “First Four” game on Wednesday against Miami of Ohio in the Midwest Region. The winner will face No. 6 seed Tennessee on Friday.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders landed the No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region and will face Akron on Friday.
The TCU Horned Frogs received the No. 9 seed in the East Region and will face Ohio State on Thursday.
The Prairie View A&M Panthers will play a “First Four” game Wednesday vs. Lehigh, with the winner advancing to play No. 1 seed Florida on Friday in the South Region.
