Seven Texas schools dancing at March Madness; Here’s where they’re going, when they’ll play

Here’s where Texas schools will play in this year’s tournament.

SAN ANTONIO — Seven Texas schools received bids for the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Here’s a rundown of who’s in the field:

The Texas A&M Aggies got the No. 10 seed in the South Region and will face Saint Mary’s on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. on truTV.

Immediately after that, the Houston Cougars, who landed the No. 2 seed in the South Region, will play Idaho on Thursday at 9:10 p.m. on truTV.

If both teams advance, they would play each other in Oklahoma City on Saturday.

The Texas Longhorns will play a “First Four” game on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. on truTV against North Carolina State in the West Region. The winner will advance to face No. 6 seed BYU on Thursday at 6:25 p.m. on TBS.

The SMU Mustangs also will play a “First Four” game on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. on truTV against Miami of Ohio in the Midwest Region. The winner will face No. 6 seed Tennessee on Friday at 3:25 p.m. on TBS.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders landed the No. 5 seed in the Midwest Region and will face Akron on Friday at 11:10 a.m. on truTV.

The TCU Horned Frogs received the No. 9 seed in the East Region and will face Ohio State on Thursday at 11:15 a.m. on KENS 5 (CBS).

The Prairie View A&M Panthers will play a “First Four” game Wednesday at 5:40 p.m. on truTV vs. Lehigh, with the winner advancing to play the South Region No. 1 seed Florida on Friday at 8:25 p.m. on TNT.
