Several Texas fire departments respond after construction project left local station in flames

Crews responded to a local station after a stray spark from construction resulted in flames.

CONCAN, Texas — The Concan Fire Department caught fire after “a spark from welding” ignited from inside the station.

The department says they’ve been finishing up construction work and during that process, a spark from welding ignited a “small fire” within the station.

No injuries were reported as officials say the fire was limited to their property only and crews were able to contain the blaze quickly.

The responding departments included Uvalde FD, Sabinal FD, Knippa FD, Utopia FD and Uvalde EMS.

“Earlier today, we experienced an unfortunate incident at our fire station. As many of you know, we have been finishing up construction work. During that process, a spark from welding ignited a small fire inside the station.

We are very thankful to report that no one was injured. The damage is limited to property only, and our crews acted quickly to contain the situation. Operations will continue as normal while we address the repairs.
